August is dedicated to the raising of vocations in the Anglican Diocese of Adelaide – vocations to lay and ordained leadership ministry in our churches and Anglican communities.
In August all leaders are asked to listen and look carefully around at those who might be waiting to be asked if God is calling them. You are asked to promote Vocations Month in the following ways:
• Offer intentional prayers for vocations in your worshipping communities . A prayer resource is available here.
• Invite a member of St Barnabas College to preach/speak on a Sunday in August. The Principal the Rev’d Dr Joan Riley, the Coordinator of Ministry Discernment and Formation the Rev’d Margaret Peel-Shakespeare, and the Coordinator of Education Programs Ms Caralyn Lammas are all available to come to your church for worship and to preach or speak.
• Make use of the promotional resources: slides for your services, a flyer, a study program, formation information and prayer resources to use in August.
• Encourage potential leaders to attend Enquirers’ Day at St Barnabas College on Saturday 31 August, 9 am – 12 pm. Attendees will hear from a range of speakers, including recent graduates of the College, senior priests and lay leaders, and finish with lunch together.
If you would like a preacher/speaker during August or more information, please contact St Barnabas College staff: Ms Maria Harrison, Registrar or Rev’d Dr Joan Riley Principal.
