Archbishop’s Certificate Module 9 – Story of the Old Testament

An invitation to explore the people, prophets and promises that shaped the story of the Bible’s Old Testament.

The Old Testament is a rich and diverse collection of books that tells the overall story of the relationship of Israel to God. Explore the Old Testament within the overarching theme of turning to and turning away from God – or faith and loss of faith.

Learn about:

• the types of literature found in the Old Testament, including law, history, poetry, wisdom writings, and prophecy.
• The Pentateuch books of Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy
• The pre-exilic prophets Isaiah, Jeremiah Elijah and Elisha, and
• The post-exilic Zechariah, Daniel, Haggai, Ezra and Nehemiah.

The module concludes by focusing on the histories and other literature, including the deuterocanonical books, and Judges, 1 and 2 Samuel, and 1 and 2 Kings.
