About the SBC Library
The Library provides collections and access to resources which support the learning, teaching and research objectives of St Barnabas College in the context of University of Divinity membership and the collaborative provision of resources.
The Library also aims to provide
- resources to support the discernment and preparation of ordinands and
- access to resources for wider parish and clergy use
The collection currently contains resources within the subject areas of religion and theology, and to a lesser extent, resources within the subject areas of philosophy, psychology, social sciences, general history and literature.
As the collection grows, the focus is on expanding subject which support learning, teaching and research needs within the following areas of study:
- Old Testament (including Hebrew)
- New Testament (including Greek)
- Biblical Studies (for books relevant to both Old and New Testament)
- Systematic Theology
- Practical and Pastoral Theology
- Anglican studies
- Church History
- Pastoral Care
- Local Church based ministries
The Library also houses a large collection of historical books, many of which belonged to Bishop Augustus Short, the first Anglican Bishop of Adelaide, and founder of St Barnabas College. This collection is in the process of being sorted with the aim of having it accessible to the public by request.
Members of the public are welcome during opening hours.
