Joan is the Principal at St Barnabas College and an Anglican priest who has been engaged in parish ministry since 2004. She blends her work in the church and desire to follow Christ’s mission and calling with her academic learning.

Joan’s research areas include the Letter to the Colossians, Greek inscriptions in Asia Minor, Greek and Roman religion, women in Asia Minor, and the cultural engagement between pagans, Jews and Christians. Her doctoral thesis brings together study of the New Testament with the epigraphical texts and non-Christian literary sources of Asia Minor.

Joan’s background has been in Classical Studies of the Greek and Roman world. She has been involved with teaching New Testament Greek for St Barnabas College previously with Flinders University and now brings her experience to the University of  Divinity.
