Jane Lee-Barker is an ordained Anglican priest and Priest in Charge of St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Burra, South Australia.   She is an Adjunct Lecturer in theology at St. Barnabas College Adelaide.  After qualifying as a registered nurse Jane did a degree in Modern Asian Studies majoring in Chinese language (Mandarin) and East Asian Sociology.  In addition to work as a nurse she worked for a migrant hostel teaching intercultural communication to both staff and migrants. She became a Nurse Educator at St. Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne, and later at Latrobe University and Monash Medical Centre.

After her first theology studies Jane answered her call  to ministry as the Foundation Chaplain of Monash University Caulfied Campus. She has worked in hospital chaplaincy and her training in Clinical Pastoral Education was done at the Royal Adelaide Hospital.  Her formation for the priesthood, including Supervised Field Experience, was done in Melbourne and Adelaide.  Jane studied theology at the Melbourne College of Divinity, the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome, The University of Munich and the University of Divinity, Australia where she gained her PhD in Systematic Theology in 2015 followed by a Graduate Certificate in Theological Education. Her doctoral thesis was a study of the theology of providence in the writings of the religious philosopher, Romano Guardini.  She did Anglican Studies at Wycliffe College, Oxford University, and Philosophy studies at Melbourne University.  She has taught Theology at Trinity College, University of Melbourne, the Melbourne College of Divinity, St. Barnabas College, Adelaide and Charles Sturt University, Canberra.

Jane has had a longstanding  involvement in Ecumenical activities and Interfaith work and currently serves on a number of National and State Ecumenical Commissions. Her current research is in the areas of Theological Anthropology, Liturgy and Theology in the Public Arena.  Her book, God’s world. No String Puppets: Providence in the Writings of Romano Guardini, is with the publishers, Wipf and Stock and will be available later in the year.

She has two adult children who are married and live with their own families in Washington DC and Singapore.
